On April 8th, Welcome to Austria organized an exclusive tour to the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs (Foreign Ministry). A large number of diplomats and other members of the association met in front of the ministry on Minoritenplatz. The ministry´s historian, Dr. David Schriffl, gave a short historic talk and explained that the Foreign Ministry had been dispersed over various surrounding buildings in the past. Only in 2005, it had found a “single” home on Minoritenplatz 8, the former government building of the Province of Lower Austria.
Highlight of the tour was the visit to the Alois Mock Saal and a detailed analysis of the murals, painted by the famous Viennese artist Leopold Kupelwieser (1796-1862).
