The board of the Club der Handelsräte invited to a visit and tour of the railway vehicle light maintenance depot of the ÖBB in Wien Matzleinsdorf. This is one of Austrian Railways’ largest maintenance depots and employs approximately 1000 personnel. At the heart of this facility is a 240 metre long maintenance workshop in which many types of railway rolling stock (vehicles), from the Taurus locomotive to the high-speed ICE trainsets, are serviced. Not only vehicles of the ÖBB, but also those of other railway companies (e.g. Deutsche Bahn) are serviced here.
