The Permanent Missions of Bulgaria, Colombia, the Netherlands and Turkmenistan invited to a joint commemorative cycling tour event marking the World Bicycle Day, annually celebrated on June 3. Proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly through a resolution A/RES/72/272, World Bicycle Day recognizes “the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle” as a simple, affordable, reliable, clean and environmentally sustainable means of transport, fostering environmental stewardship and health. It highlights the bicycle’s important contribution to sustainable development, including its role in promoting education, strengthening public health, and encouraging social inclusion and a culture of peace.
The event concluded with a reception hosted at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Netherlands.
