Gertrud TAUCHHAMMER, Owner and Publisher of Diplomatic SOCIETY Magazine, hosted another Salon Diplomatique Breakfast at Palais Schönborn-Batthyány – this time, in presence of Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano GROSSI, as Diplomatic SOCIETY had dedicated the cover story of its latest issue to the life and work of the Argentinian career diplomat.
After the welcome words by Ms. TAUCHHAMMER and an introduction by the moderator of the morning, Ambassador Stefan Scholz, Head of Department for Sub-Sahara Africa and the African Union of Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, GROSSI addressed the numerous international guests, pointing out IAEA’s critical role in fostering peaceful nuclear applications, mitigating global crises, and maintaining international security. Then, Ambassador Maximilian Hennig, Head of the Protocol Department of the BMEIA, thanked him for his and the IAEA’s work and also pointed out the importance of Diplomatic SOCIETY’s contribution to a lively exchange between nations and cultures.
In the second part of the event, the new Ambassadors (accredited since July 2025) were welcomed with individual fanfares by Austrian composer and trumpeter Leonhard LEEB. The Diplomats from Brazil, H.E. Eduardo PAES SABOIA, Canada, H.E. Alison L. GRANT, Estonia, H.E. Arti HILPUS, Guatemala, H.E. Gabriel ORELLANA ZABALZA, Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Nurzhana SHAILDABEKOVA, Lao DPR: H.E. Khampheng DOUANGTHONGLA, Lebanon, H.E. Cynthia CHIDIAC, Poland, H.E. Zenon Henry KOSINIAK KAMYSZ, Sweden, H.E. Annika BEN DAVID and USA, H.E. Arthur Graham FISHER joined the Director General, Ms. TAUCHHAMMER, Mr. HENNIG and Mr. SCHOLZ on stage for a group picture before the delicious buffet provided by HANA and a tea corner with sweets provided by the Ambassador of Morocco to Austria and Vice-Chair of the IAEA Board of Governors, H.E. Azzeddine FARHANE, was opened. In the stately athmosphere of the historic Palais, the guests then had the chance to network and exchange their impressions of the morning.
